Building Surveyor

Our areas of expertise are represented in four core verticals: Building Engineering, Planning and Infrastructure, Strategy and Advisory and Commissioning, Handover and Asset Management.

Job Purpose:
Deliver consultancy and surveying services to AESG’s clients.
Execution of projects.
Assist in business development activities related to consultancy services.
Qualification / Education:
Minimum bachelor’s degree or master’s in engineering/Building Surveying or equivalent.
Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience.
Responsibilities:
1) Site based
Conduct surveys of new-build developments, witnessing the installation of both passive and active fire safety systems.
Perform Compartmentation Surveys.
Carry out Fire Stopping Inspections.
Carry out site surveys in relation to Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEW) (training provided).
Utilise construction software for site surveys and reporting.
2) Office based
Review and study existing documentation, including O&M manuals, fire strategy documents, architectural drawings, FRAs, FRAEWs, fire strategy plans and elevations, commissioning certificates, and other relevant records.
Prepare detailed reports using Microsoft Word based on both document studies and on-site building surveys.
Present findings from document reviews and building surveys to internal senior chartered personnel using PowerPoint presentations.
Conduct internal quality assurance checks on colleagues’ deliverables.
Prepare intrusive survey briefing documents.
Draft Building Safety Case reports.
Draft and contribute to FRAEW reports.
Cross-reference Building Regulations, associated Approved Document guidance, and relevant British Standards.
Perform research and development on building safety topics as assigned by line management and share insights with colleagues to support team knowledge.

Leadership / Team Management Experience: Ability to independently project manage delivery and guide junior team members within the project team or mentoring junior team members / graduates. Provide guidance and leadership to more junior team members. Responsible for at least 2 more junior members of staff. Uphold AESG Core Values.
Commercial Acumen / Business Development: Proficiency in creating and managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost control.
