Waste Consultant

Job Purpose:
Support the delivery of waste management consultancy projects, including waste strategies, audits, permitting, and infrastructure planning assignments.
Undertake technical analyses, data assessment, and preparation of project deliverables under the guidance of Senior and Principal team members.
Contribute to project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and day-to-day project delivery activities.
Develop technical capability and progress toward independent project management responsibilities.
Support business development activities through research input, proposal support, and client interaction where required.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Waste Management, Environmental Engineering/Science, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in waste management consultancy or a closely related environmental discipline.
Knowledge of recycling systems, waste treatment processes, and disposal methods.
Familiarity with sustainability and circular economy concepts and relevant frameworks (e.g., LEED, Estidama, Mostadam or similar).
Experience working on consultancy projects and technical report preparation
Responsibilities:
Support the development of waste management strategies for buildings, master plans, and community-scale developments.
Collect, analyse, and interpret waste generation and operations data.
Assist in conducting waste generation assessments and preliminary infrastructure sizing for facilities such as MRFs, composting plants, transfer stations, and landfills.
Contribute to feasibility and techno-economic assessments, including baseline analysis, benchmarking, and cost inputs.
Prepare technical reports, drawings, calculations, and presentation materials.
Prepare design drawings from a waste flow and operational perspective.
Support regulatory compliance reviews and alignment with local and international best practice.
Participate in client meetings, workshops, and coordination sessions alongside senior team members.
Support project scheduling, task tracking, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
Contribute to proposal preparation, capability statements, and marketing material as required.
Actively engage in learning and professional development to expand technical and project delivery skills.
Skills:
Ability to prepare 2D waste management drawings and layouts in AutoCAD, including waste room layouts and waste collection routing.
Ability to interpret architectural and infrastructure drawings from a waste operations perspective.
Familiarity with Revit or 3D modelling/BIM platforms is preferred with willingness to further develop capability.
Strong foundation in solid waste management principles, recycling systems, and collection operations.
Understanding of waste technologies and associated infrastructure development processes.
Ability to analyse datasets, perform calculations, and support modelling / forecasting activities.
Strong technical writing, documentation, and presentation preparation skills.
Good organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to interpret architectural layouts and site plans from a waste operations perspective.
Working knowledge of international waste management policy and strategy, life-cycle analysis, circular economy and zero-waste principles, waste projections, and economic / financial assessment (developing competency).
Strong teamwork, communication, and willingness to learn from senior colleagues.
