Principal Electrical Engineer

JOB PURPOSE
Lead and manage the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems for high-profile building services, infrastructure, and sustainability-focused projects.
Work closely with clients, architects, consultants, and contractors to understand their requirements and provide design proposals that meet their needs and expectations.
Provide technical guidance, oversee design teams, and ensure compliance with local and international building codes, energy efficiency regulations, and sustainable design principles.
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or Building Services Engineering.
10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering for building services.
Proven track record in leading renewable energy projects, energy-efficient electrical design, and grid-interactive systems and managing complex projects.
Strong experience in sustainable building practices.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP.
Expertise in ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, and local electrical building codes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in electrical system design and optimization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Design & Engineering Excellence:
Lead the design and development of electrical system for sustainable infrastructure projects including renewable energy systems, EV charging, and energy-efficient building systems.
Integrate sustainability and decarbonization strategies into electrical design solutions for commercial, industrial, and public infrastructure projects.
Ensure electrical designs comply with ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, local codes, and green building certification requirements (LEED, Estidama, Mostadam, BREEAM, etc.).
Review and approve detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Project Management & Delivery:
Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle, from concept to detailed design and construction support.
Oversee technical reports, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards
Leadership & Team Development:
Mentor and guide a team of electrical engineers and CAD/Revit technicians.
Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
Conduct design reviews, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing workshops.
Client & Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and contractors to deliver integrated design solutions.
Serve as the technical point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met.
Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project discussions.
Sustainability & Innovation:
Implement energy-efficient, net-zero, and low-carbon design strategies.
Explore emerging technologies, smart building systems, and innovative mechanical solutions.
Support research into new sustainable mechanical engineering practices.

Leading by example in the exemplary delivery of projects. Assist Consultants and Senior Consultants when dealing with complex situations. Support divisional leadership and provide line management to graduates and coordinators. Responsible for at least 2 more members of staff. Uphold AESG Core Values.
