JOB PURPOSE
Provide technical leadership in the design, engineering, integration, and assurance of electronic security systems across complex built environments
Act as a technical authority for security systems engineering, responsible for translating client operational requirements into robust, compliant, and fully integrated technical solutions
Lead and manage security systems engineering projects through all lifecycle stages, including concept design, detailed design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover
Demonstrate extensive experience across complex security environments, including local authority public space surveillance schemes, hospital video surveillance systems, access control and security control room projects, university and higher education estates, and critical national infrastructure incorporating PIDS
Responsible for assessing and interpreting complex “as-built” systems, providing technical assurance, and ensuring system performance aligns with defined operational and functional requirements
Adopt a hands-on approach, actively supporting site activities including surveys, technical reviews, installation inspections, snagging, and participation in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
Engage directly with clients, contractors, system integrators, and manufacturers to ensure delivery of high-quality, fully integrated security solutions
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline
5 to 10+ years of experience in electronic security systems engineering, design, or system integration
Previous experience working with a security systems integrator is essential
PRINCE2 (or equivalent project management certification)
Strong experience with CAD and design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM environments)
Networking knowledge and certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA or equivalent) highly desirable
Manufacturer certification and hands-on experience in systems such as: LenelS2 (OnGuard), Genetec (Security Center / Synergis) & Software House (C•CURE 9000)
Experience in video surveillance, access control, PSIM, intercom, and integrated security platforms is highly advantageous
GENERAL EXPECTANCY
Operate as a subject matter expert in electronic security systems engineering
Provide technical leadership and contribute specialist knowledge across multiple concurrent projects
Support the development of engineering standards, best practices, and technical excellence within the organisation
RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as a technical authority for CCTV, access control, PIDS, and integrated security systems
Translate client operational requirements (Level 1 ORs) into detailed technical specifications and system designs (Level 2 ORs)
Develop system architectures and define how security systems integrate with wider building systems (e.g. electrical, ICT, BMS)
Undertake site surveys and technical assessments to inform system design and implementation strategies
Prepare feasibility studies, technical reports, and system design documentation
Produce detailed design and tender packages, including: Drawings and schematics, System architectures, Technical specifications, Bills of quantities & Functional descriptions and performance criteria
Conduct technical evaluations of contractor submissions and tender returns
Provide technical support during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases
Undertake site inspections, snagging, and quality assurance activities
Participate in and witness FAT and SAT processes to validate system performance
Review and assess “as-built” documentation to ensure compliance with design intent and operational requirements
Collaborate with system integrators and manufacturers to resolve technical issues and optimise system performance
Contribute to the development of internal standards, CAD/BIM libraries, and engineering methodologies
Support business development activities through technical input to proposals and client presentations
Produce technical papers, guidance documents, and contribute to industry thought leadership where appropriate

Leadership / Team Management Experience - Ability to independently project manage delivery and guide junior team members within the project team or mentoring junior team members / graduates. Provide guidance and leadership to more junior team members.
Commercial Acumen / Business Development - Proficiency in creating and managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost control. Managing relationships with project vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective procurement. Client oriented and contributes to commercial success of the division.
