Senior Waste Management Consultant

And as part of our continued growth and expansion, we are looking to bring in a talented Senior Waste Management Consultant to lead the delivery of waste management projects, including strategies, audits, permitting programmes, and infrastructure planning and design support. The successful candidate will manage projects of varying scales and complexity, ensuring technical quality, commercial performance, and timely delivery, while providing technical leadership and quality assurance for work produced by junior and mid-level team members. The role also involves acting as a primary point of contact for clients, contributing to business development activities, proposal writing, and client presentations, and supporting the continued growth and capability development of the Waste Division and the wider Environment team.
Responsibilities:
Independently manage complex projects and resolve technical and delivery-related challenges.
Develop waste management strategies for buildings, master plans, and city-scale developments.
Conduct waste generation analysis and recommend infrastructure sizing for MRFs, composting facilities, transfer stations, and landfills.
Support techno-economic and feasibility assessments to evaluate cost and operational performance.
Review and validate project deliverables to ensure compliance with regulations and best practice.
Lead client workshops, coordination meetings, and progress reviews.
Advise clients on waste reduction, recycling, and disposal solutions that are practical, sustainable, and cost-effective.
Monitor and report on project performance and initiative effectiveness.
Support resourcing, proposal preparation, and day-to-day divisional operations.
Mentor and guide junior team members, providing technical support and professional development.
Maintain strong and collaborative client relationships.
Skills:
Strong technical expertise in solid waste management strategy and infrastructure planning.
Comprehensive understanding of waste technologies, operational systems, and collection processes.
Strong proficiency in preparing 2D waste management drawings and layouts using AutoCAD, including waste room layouts, collection routes, and operational flow diagrams.
Ability to review and coordinate drawings across disciplines, ensuring integration with architectural and infrastructure designs.
Experience working with 3D modelling environments (e.g., Revit or BIM platforms); Revit capability is preferred and considered an advantage.
Familiarity with international waste policy, circular economy, zero-waste and net-zero frameworks.
Commercial awareness with the ability to balance delivery quality and project profitability.
Strong leadership, team coordination, and client engagement capabilities.
Excellent technical writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
Ability to interpret architectural and infrastructure designs from a waste operations perspective.
Strong technical expertise in solid waste management and waste strategy development across local and regional contexts.
Solid understanding of waste technologies and associated infrastructure development processes.
Proven experience in project management and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
Strong knowledge of international waste management policy and strategy, life-cycle analysis, circular economy and net-zero principles, waste projections and carbon modelling, waste operations and collections, waste infrastructure planning, and economic / financial assessment.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Waste Management, Environmental Engineering/Science or related field,
Minimum 5 years of experience delivering waste management consultancy projects.
Proven knowledge of recycling activities, waste treatment, and disposal technologies.
Familiarity with international waste management standards, circular economy principles, and sustainability frameworks (e.g., LEED, Mostadam, Estidama, or similar).
